Responsibilities

As the principal financial advisor to the Edo State government, we are responsible for formulating and implementing fiscal policies aimed at promoting economic stability, sustainable growth, and prudent financial management. We analyze economic trends, assess revenue potentials, and develop strategies to optimize resource allocation and utilization.

We play a central role in the preparation and execution of the state budget, working closely with government agencies and departments to align spending priorities with development objectives. Our goal is to ensure that the budget reflects the needs and aspirations of the people of Edo State while promoting fiscal discipline and transparency.

We undertake comprehensive economic planning to identify opportunities for growth and development in key sectors of the state economy. Through strategic planning and policy formulation, we aim to promote inclusive and sustainable development, attract investment, and create employment opportunities for our citizens.

We provide financial management and oversight to government agencies and departments, ensuring compliance with fiscal regulations and accountability standards. Our responsibilities include monitoring revenue collection, expenditure management, debt administration, and internal control systems to safeguard public funds and promote efficiency.

We facilitate the establishment of public-private partnerships and promote investment opportunities in Edo State. By fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, we aim to leverage resources, expertise, and innovation to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation.

We are tasked with mobilizing and managing the state’s revenue resources, including taxes, fees, grants, and other sources of income. Through effective revenue administration and enforcement mechanisms, we strive to enhance revenue generation, improve tax compliance, and diversify the state’s revenue base.

We conduct economic research and analysis to support evidence-based policy-making and decision-making processes. By monitoring economic indicators, assessing sectoral performance, and forecasting future trends, we provide valuable insights to policymakers and stakeholders to inform strategic planning and development initiatives.

We are committed to building the capacity of government officials and stakeholders to enhance their skills and knowledge in financial management, economic planning, and development. Through training programs, workshops, and technical assistance, we aim to strengthen institutional capacities and promote good governance practices across all levels of government.

We engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector, to foster collaboration and partnership in advancing the economic development agenda of Edo State. By promoting dialogue, cooperation, and collective action, we seek to mobilize support and resources for sustainable development initiatives.

We advocate for policy reforms and initiatives that promote economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. Through effective communication and public outreach, we raise awareness about key development issues, solicit feedback from stakeholders, and build consensus around policy priorities and objectives.

We monitor and evaluate the impact of our policies, programs, and projects to ensure accountability, effectiveness, and efficiency in achieving development outcomes. By conducting regular assessments and performance reviews, we identify lessons learned, best practices, and areas for improvement to enhance the effectiveness of our interventions.
